Lang Termes grew up with a visual artist father and spent summers touring with his puppeteer mother. He was surrounded by artists, musicians, writers and performers of all description from the day he was born. He has been playing professionally most of his life. His vocal style ranges from mellow folk ballads to growling boogie blues. Lang’s style of song writing, both original music and lyrics, comes deep from the heart, or in some cases, bubbles up from his whimsical sense of irony. His selection of covers ranges from early country blues to the full gambit of contemporary classics. Lang plays music in a wide variety of styles. Some of his biggest influences include: Muddy Waters, Woody Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Huddie (Ledbelly) Ledbetter, Townes Van Zandt, John Lee Hooker, Tom Waits, Greg Brown and Josh Ritter.

 

 

Lang Termes, a singer/songwriter originally from Spearfish, South Dakota has been living and performing in and around Bozeman for seven years. Lang brings to life a style of musical performance that is both genuine and captivating. Inspired by folk and blues styles, he has a unique talent that lends itself to the originality of his music. With his ability to involve the audience with his vivid storytelling through song, Lang is truly a joy to hear. Although he does cover some songs, the vast majority of the music he plays, he has written and composed himself. His storytelling style of using his music to tell personal tales of the characters in his songs forms a bridge between his audience and himself. Lang’s combined ability of storytelling, his natural ease and comfort level in front of an audience makes his shows a pleasure from beginning to end. Lang’s stage presence is one to be admired. He has the ability to step in front of a crowd and make a personal connection with his audience. He has a confidence in his ability that is both real and compelling, not to mention his lyrics, which are complex and absorbing. Born and raised in the Black Hills of western South Dakota, Lang draws a great deal of inspiration from his upbringing. He first started playing the guitar at a young age and with his first strum found his life’s calling. He moved to Bozeman in 2002 in pursuit of that dream. Since that time he has built a solid reputation throughout the area as one of Montana’s premier talents.
